Design Inspiration: Outdoor Spaces

Since Spring is approaching and I am dying to get outside, I thought we’d head outdoors today…virtually speaking, of course.

I have a dilemma every spring. I can’t wait to get outside and begin working in the yard. I look at these photos for inspiration, but they only confuse me! I love them all. I love the relaxed atmosphere of the gardens with gravel underfoot, casual furnishings and colorful accents. I love the formality of the gardens with definite borders and plants in straight lines. I love the modern aesthetic of the gardens with plenty of  hardscape, chic lighting and neatly manicured patches of grass. Anyone else experience the Spring Frustration Blues?

What’s your preference in garden design?

If you saw my backyard, you'd see why I feel unqualified to pick a favorite...But I totally know what you mean by feeling confused and overwhelmed. I love so many different things that it's hard to be committed to one "theme".

As for a favorite, I say I love them all because any change to our yard would be better than what we're working with!

I tried to post a comment, but it never showed up, so pardon me if it shows up twice! But my yard is a disaster and it officially unqualifies me to pick a favorite. But I absolutely sympathize with having too many different things you like; it's so much pressure to have a "theme"!

Do I lie awake at night worried about work? No. Do I lie awake at night worried about how I would decorate a mud room (if Justin ever lets me convert the study)? Yes.
