Working Designer Wednesday: Mixed Bag

Lots of neat stuff to share today…

1. Chandin (Studio 3 Floral Design) told me about something you are going to find very interesting…the CoolBot. It turns almost any brand of off-the-shelf, window-type air conditioning unit (purchased separately) into a turbo-charged cooling machine. With it, you can transform a highly-insulated room into a walk-in cooler…cost: $299 (plus cost of air conditioning unit). Anyone used the CoolBot?

We've used the Coolbot for about 6 years and LOVE it. We had to replace our AC unit last year but otherwise no repair bills.

We are a little cut flower farm. Our Coolbot is in a little insulated shed that runs continuously year round. We have had it for 7 years and had to replace the air conditioner once because it was undersized. It works great holding our flowers and bulbs at a constant 35-38 degrees. Highly recommended, great support and info from the Coolbot folks.

I have a couple of questions for the Coolbot users, what about the humidity in the cooled space? And how do you regulate it(the humidity)? I'm in Texas, it was 109F yesterday, 106F today.

When it's this hot, it takes a LOT of electricity to cool even a small space. In really hot places, I think a small reach-in cooler might take less energy to operate over the long term.

The Coolbot does sound like an ideal solution for many designers.

Just received my CoolBot in the mail today! I have heard only great things about this product, and am very eager to give it a try!

Just heard about the CoolBot recently. An acquaintance uses it in her walk-in cooler after the cooling unit went out in it, much cheaper than replacing the original.
Thanks for the inspiration pictures! Always good info.
